Gratitude is one of the most powerful emotions there is. We cannot be grateful and bitter/resentful at the same time. Everyday thankfulness penetrates my consciousness and I feel so blessed to have this incredible opportunity called life. Even when life is challenging and I am not experiencing as much love from external sources I eventually return to a state of gratitude. I am grateful for the chance to be more aware of how can I be proactively loving in my life. If your goal is anything like mine, "to be in a state of unconditional love always" we must be grateful when our awareness is given experiences that shines into areas of unconsciousness that have not yet been giving the light of awareness to grow in love. I know this might sound far fetched, but as you might know, if you look long enough there is a silver lining to all painful experiences in life. Knowing this we can use our wisdom to be thankful even in the most difficult of times, because we have been given an opportunity to expand what we are consciously aware of. The more we let go of identification with form, the more awareness pervades as the sense of who we are. This brings a deeper connection to all things, a feeling of expansiveness that reaches out into our galaxy and beyond, to a point where we hold onto nothing and become one with the great expanse again. Gratitude is one of the vehicles to this state of conscious awareness. For what we appreciate we nurture and what we nurture grows. The more and more we show our appreciation for what we enjoy and love, the more we receive this experience. Ain't life beautiful :).
